The Challenge is to create a comic in 24 hours, in whatever medium you're comfortable in. Use ink, computer graphics, paint, magazine photos, crayons; use paper, bristol board, wacom tablets - it doesn't matter.

As long as you produce a comic; tools and materials don't matter.

If you're not a member of the Pulp Faction forum, it might be a good idea to register.

Officially the challenge begins at 11am on Saturday the 6th of June and ends 11pm Monday night (all times EST).

If you want to start earlier or later that's up to you, but once you start you have to finish 24 hours later. The clock doesn't stop for naps or meals. (However, to be eleigible for prizes, you cannot start any earlier than 11am AEST on Friday.)

You don't have to create 24 pages, you are more than welcome to do 8 pages or 16 pages within the 24 hours. If you are not a great artist it doesn't matter, good story and storytelling are what makes a good 24 hour comic. Many writers enter and create great entries using computer graphics, clip art, stick figures and photos.

There are no excuses for not entering.

The subject matter is up to you as well. Comedy, Horror, Superheroes, Romance, Thriller, Action - its all acceptable. But please, do not infringe the intellectual property or copyrighted material of others without permission.

We encourage you to post your completed pages to the Pulp Faction boards so we can see and comment on your work - as you do it. But you can also send in your entries by mail.

Before the Challenge officially starts items to be included in each entry will be posted here and to the Pulp Faction Forum(s) - you will need include these words/items in your comic to be eligible for prizes. You can use them as dialogue or in the panel or as an object.

At the end of the challenge (11pm AEST Monday 11th June) all the entries will be compiled and then later judged for a grand prize. Winners from the various categories (24pages, 16 pages, 8 pages) will receive peoples' choice prizes and there will be door prizes. If you don't have access to a scanner or net access, make a copy and send it to us; we'll scan it and display it on the site.

Digital comics will need to be posted by Monday 11th of June 11pm AEST and postal entries will need to be received Thursday 14th of June. If you plan on mailing your entry please contact a Challenge organizer beforehand.
